Human Well Being
Human Well Being is a human condition in which all members of society are able to determine and meet their needs.
Well Being is achieved when the total environment enables and encourages the full spectrum of needs to be met in a comprehensive and sustainable manner.
Ecosystem Well Being
Ecosystem Well Being is a condition in which the ecosystem maintains its diversity and quality .... and thus its
capacity to support people and the rest of lifeÉand its potential to adapt to change and provide a wide range of choices and opportunities for the future.
Subjective Well Being
Subjective Well Being represents an individual's subjective appraisal of life and can be divided into both
cognitive (life satisfaction) and affective (pleasant feelings/relative lack of negative feelings) dimensions. A "happy person", by this definition,
would be one who experiences an abundance of positive emotions and generally feels satisfied with life.''
The "World We All Want" is a major project of the Halloran Philanthropies that seeks to inspire the creation of a world that "works for 100% of
humanity in the shortest possible time (R. Buckminster Fuller). The project will focus on comprehensive approaches and solutions that improve well-being
- human, ecosystem and subjective wellbeing - that integrate technology, art and science to help move our planet toward sustainability. The project will
tell the story of wellbeing ... a global history of wellbeing among nations.
